Hello, I'm Wei Zhi!
I am a passionate sports trainer with over 8 years of experience helping athletes stay at the top of their game. I graduated from Republic Polytechnic with a Diploma in Sports and Exercise Science, and have been immersed in the world of athlete care and performance since 2017.
I began my career as a freelance sports trainer, specialising in sports massage and match day support for various football clubs. This hands-on experience allowed me to develop a deep understanding of the role of recovery in athletic performance and injury prevention. In 2022, I joined BG Tampines Rovers Football Club full-time, where I focus on player wellness, ensuring they stay fit, healthy and ready to perform at elite competitions like the AFC Champions League 2.
Beyond football, I’ve also worked with school teams in rugby, field hockey, and ultimate frisbee, broadening my knowledge across different sports and injury types. These experiences have helped me fine-tune my approach to athlete support, adapting treatments based on individual needs and the demands of each sport.
I believe sports massage should be both effective and comfortable. While many think that "no pain, no gain" applies here, I strive to find the right balance of pressure to relieve soreness, reduce stiffness, and improve flexibility without unnecessary discomfort. Massage is just one tool in recovery, and I always aim to use it thoughtfully to support long-term performance and well-being.
“Talent wins games, but teamwork and intelligence win championships.”
I strongly believe that recovery is a team effort, much like chasing a championship. At One Percent Rehab, I work closely with the physiotherapists to ensure every session targets the right areas for maximum effectiveness. Similarly, if I feel a different treatment would better support your recovery, I will refer you to our physio team because getting you the right care is what matters most.
Outside of work, I enjoy swimming and am a certified lifeguard which keeps me connected to water sports and safety. On quieter days, I slow things down with a strong coffee, good music, and a bit of motorsport, MotoGP is my go-to. These help me recharge and stay inspired.
